Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Set up a double boiler to melt 2 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate and 1/2 cup of unsalted butter with 3/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar for about 5 minutes until glossy.
  2. Whisk in 4 large eggs one at a time into the cooled chocolate mixture, incorporating each fully before adding the next.
  3. Sift together 3/4 cup cocoa powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt, then add to the mixture with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. Gently fold in 2/3 cup of all-purpose flour with a spatula until just combined.
  5. Prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper and transfer the brownie batter into the pan, smoothing the top.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup of M&M's evenly on top of the batter without pressing them in.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45-50 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Cool the brownies completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
