Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix until fully integrated, ensuring that everything is evenly distributed. Shape the mixture into patties about ½-inch thick.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully lay the patties in the skillet, leaving space between each.
  3. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 5 minutes until they're well-browned and no longer pink in the center, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the brown gravy mix with hot water until smooth, stirring out any lumps.
  5. Stir in the additional ketchup and Worcestershire sauce to the gravy mix. Pour the mixture over the cooked patties in the skillet and heat back to medium.
  6. Let the Salisbury steak simmer in the gravy for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
  7. Plate the Salisbury steaks and ladle gravy over each patty. Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
