  • 1 large Egg Room temperature

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and position the rack in the lower third.
  2. Melt the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter in a double boiler.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar with the melted chocolate mixture, followed by eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. Fold in flour, baking soda, and kosher salt carefully.
  5. Set aside ½ cup of brownie batter, mixing in 2 tablespoons of water until pourable.
  6. Beat cream cheese, additional sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until creamy for the cheesecake layer.
  7. Spread the cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer in the prepared pan.
  8. Dollop reserved brownie batter over cheesecake and swirl gently.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes, then tent with foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes.
  10. Cool on a wire rack for 1.5 to 2 hours before slicing into squares.
