  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise For burger sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Dill Pickle Relish Can substitute with sweet relish.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Patty Melt
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, mustard, dill pickle relish, and ketchup. Stir until smooth and refrigerate.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add butter. Once melted, add sliced onions, Worcestershire sauce, and red wine vinegar. Cook for about 20 minutes until caramelized.
  3. While onions caramelize, form ground beef into two patties and season both sides with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Increase skillet heat to medium-high and cook patties for about 4 minutes per side. Remove and let rest.
  5. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread. In the skillet, place two slices butter-side-down and layer with cheddar, onions, a patty, and muenster cheese. Top with another slice of bread, butter-side-up.
  6. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook each side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and cheese melts.
