  • 1 package Instant Bread Mix
  • 1 cup Warm Water Between 105°F to 115°F
  • few drops Red Food Coloring Adjust for desired color
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast Check for freshness
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Rice Flour Substitute with regular flour if needed
  • as needed Black Food Coloring or Activated Charcoal

Method
 

Mixing
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant bread mix, active dry yeast, warm water, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, and salt, and mix until cohesive.
  2. Once formed, add red food coloring gradually and mix until desired color is achieved.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and arrange them on a greased cookie sheet to rise.
Topping Preparation
  1. Mix rice flour, sugar, oil, salt, yeast, and black food coloring in a bowl until you achieve a thick paste.
  2. Allow the topping mixture to rest for about 15 minutes.
  3. Spread the black topping over each risen dough ball carefully.
  4. Let the topped dough balls rest for an additional 15 minutes before baking.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven and bake the bread for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  2. Cool on a wire rack before serving warm with desired toppings.
