  • 0.5 cup Sour Cream Greek yogurt can be a substitute for a healthier twist.
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can also be used for a bolder taste.
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked Paprika Regular paprika may be used for a milder flavor.
  • 0.25 tsp Onion Powder Shallots or fresh onions can be used in small amounts.

For Coating and Presentation
  • 1 cup Crushed Cheese Crackers or Finely Chopped Pecans Use gluten-free crackers for a gluten-free version.
  • Pretzel Rod or Bell Pepper Stem Each can be replaced by a piece of cucumber or carrot for a vegetable-friendly option.
  • Fresh Parsley Leaves Optional garnish for added color and freshness.

  • hand mixer
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Plate

Method

Mixing and Chilling
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, sour cream, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Using a hand mixer, blend the ingredients for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  2. Once well mixed, place the cheese mixture onto a large piece of plastic wrap, shape into a ball, wrap snugly, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
Coating and Shaping
  1. After chilling, unwrap the cheese ball and roll it in the crushed cheese crackers or pecans until fully coated.
  2. To create ridges, press a piece of twine or uncooked spaghetti against the sides of the cheese ball, then remove it for a textured look.
  3. Insert a pretzel rod or bell pepper stem into the top for a pumpkin effect, and garnish with fresh parsley leaves if desired.
Serving
  1. Before serving, allow the cheese ball to sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes for easier spreading. Serve with dippers like crackers, pretzels, or vegetables.
