Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil mix with neutral oil if needed
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil or another neutral oil
  • 1/4 cup Low-Sodium Soy Sauce to control salt levels
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 tablespoon Honey can be replaced with agave syrup for vegan option
  • 1 teaspoon Sambal Oelek adjust for heat preference
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Paste
  • 1 tablespoon Rice Wine Vinegar can be substituted with apple cider vinegar

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Press the tofu by wrapping it in paper towels and placing a heavy object on top for 30 minutes.
  2. Cube the pressed tofu into 1-inch pieces and coat evenly with cornstarch.
  3. Heat sesame oil and vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Fry coated tofu cubes in the skillet for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a bowl while tofu is frying.
  6. Pour the sauce over the crispy tofu in the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Remove from heat, serve on a plate, and enjoy the dish with rice or lettuce wraps.
